Official ground breaking ceremonyThe Frontier Gateway Museum had its official groundbreaking on September 15, 1962 and officially opened its doors in August of 1963.  The following is a listing of the events that brought this museum to Glendive:

 

September 15, 1962 Groundbreaking
August 1963 3-D Celebration honoring the homesteaders
May 26, 1964 Dedication
1971 Golden Valley School moved to grounds
1973 Golden Valley School restored
1974 Blacksmith shop finished
1976 "Merrill West" finished in basement
1977 Log cabin from Paxton Montana brought in
1979 Fire hall built
1980 Historic murals painted on exterior walls
1981 Park and picnic area added
1982 Addition to the main building which doubled the size of the museum
1983 Old store and saloon brought in
1984 Authentic sheep wagon acquired
1988 1918 WWI cannon moved to grounds
June 4, 1989 25th anniversary celebrated
1996 Northern Pacific caboose moved to grounds
2001 2nd addition added
